Limousin
Holidays is a family business run by husband and wife team, Peter
& Pam Burden.
The
property is located within the boundaries of the PERIGORD-LIMOUSIN
NATIONAL PARK and the setting is very rural. The view is wonderful
at all times of the year and there is much wildlife here - you will
get used to seeing buzzards, hoopoes, unusual butterflies, red
squirrels, lizards and much more. Please see activities for
details of horse riding, fishing, golf, culture and more.
The location will suit anyone who yearns for tranquility and the
simple life of a genuinely unspoilt part of rural France.

There
are no immediate neighbouring buildings and included with the property
is a three acre meadow with its own stream. The surrounding fields
are used for grazing sheep or Limousin beef cattle and some arable.
There is no through traffic except for one or two local cars per day,
the local friendly farmer on his tractor and horse riders from the
local stables. By night the peace is only
occasionally broken by grasshoppers or over-excited frogs from the
lake in the next field. |

There
are two villages within 3km which have bakers, butchers and fresh
vegetable supplies. Good supermarkets are available within 5km.
There are many local restaurants to choose from, offering a range
of menus from around €10 upwards. Local specialities include
the famous Limousin beef, duck, foie gras, goats cheeses and chestnuts.
Food served in the main house is mainly drawn from our own vegetable
garden, free range poultry and local organically reared meat. |

The ancient
city of Limoges is around 30-40 minutes drive and offers all the
shopping experiences one could wish for, as well as being a most
attractive city to explore with its 12th century cathedral
majestically looking down over the city, through which runs the
beautiful Vienne river. The city offers cinema, theatre, concerts,
art exhibitions, museums as well as an aquarium, ten-pin bowling
complex and a small parkland zoo.
Just an hour away is Perigueux,
the capital city of Dordogne is also steeped in history and is a
haven for the gourmet food lover. Like Limoges, it is a
shoppers paradise with its old quarter full of interesting lanes
shops and restaurants, and its modern chic centre. It also
hosts one of the greatest local markets every Saturday morning. |
